The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 95 points, or 0.5 percent, to a five-month closing high of 17,728, today, after lower-than-expected July inflation numbers fuelled hopes of a rate cut by the Reserve Bank. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange gained 32 points, or 0.6 percent, to 5,380. Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore advanced between 0.3 percent and 1.3 percent.
