Sensex surges 364 points to close at 28,078

The domestic stock markets rallied handsomely, today, and the rupee ended stronger against the dollar. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange spurted 364 points, or 1.4 percent, to close at 28,078. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange surged 132 points, to 8,683. Other key Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended mixed. At the forex market, the rupee appreciated 14 paise, to 66.77 against the dollar. Gold rose 50 rupees, to 31,100 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. And Brent crude oil futures lost 22 cents, to 44.07 dollars a barrel.
