The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 343 points, to close at a five-week high of 16,773 today, on buying by institutional investors, who appeared enthused by the Budget proposals.The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange jumped 95 points, to 5,017. Stock markets in Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong and Singapore's ended mixed.
