Sensex surges 30 pts in noon trade

The sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 39 points, or 0.2 per cent to 17,144 in early trade, today on selective buying by funds. Later, the Sensex stood 30 points, or 0.2 per cent in positive territory at 17,135, after volatile trade, a short while ago.Key stock indices in Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong were down by between 0.3 per cent and 1.5 per cent today. But across in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained 0.6 per cent in yesterday's trade.
