The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 292 points, or 1.1 percent, to close at 28,095. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange jumped 94 points, to a 15 month high of 8,636. Other key Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended little changed.
