Domestic share markets today logged gains in afternoon trade, snapping a losing streak of eight sessions.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 230 points to trade at 35,729 a short while ago. The Nifty at National Stock Exchange also appreciated 69 points to trade at 10,710.

The domestic currency derivatives markets remain closed today on account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti. On Monday, the rupee settled at 71 rupees and 36 paise against the US dollar.
