The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today soared by 208 points to 16,272 points in opening trade. The 30-share BSE index was trading at 16248, up by 184 points when reports last came in. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also gained 65.50 points to trade higher at 4,831.Brokers said pick up in buying by foreign funds, bolstered by firming trends in other Asian markets in line with overnight gains on the US market on positive jobs data.

Sensex surges 208 points in opening trade
