The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 199 points, or 1.2 percent, at 16,417, today, on buying by funds amid a stronger rupee and rising Asian and European markets. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange advanced 65 points, or 1.3 percent, to 4,986.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore gained between 0.2 percent and 1.2 percent.
