The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped 194 points, or 1.1 percent, to a five-month closing high 17,885, today, on heavy rain in some parts of the country, and easing inflation. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange gained 55 points, or 1 percent, to 5,421.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended mixed.
