The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 193 points, or 1.1 per cent, to 17,188 in opening trade, today, amid rising Asian bourses. Remaining firm, the Sensex stood 174 points, or 1 percent in the green, at 17,168, a short while ago. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and China were up by between 1.3 percent and 1.9 percent, on better-than-expected US jobs data.
