The BSE benchmark Sensex surged by 157 points to 19,574 in noon trade on the first trading session of 2013.Earlier sensex was up by 132 points.The rise was attributed to increased buying by funds as well as retail investors. Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 44 points to 5,949.
