Benchmark domestic stocks today surged around two and half percent in intra-day trade. The Sensex and Nifty climbed amid positive Asian market cues.

The BSE Sensex was trading 1173 points, or 2.41 percent, up at 49,773. The NSE Nifty also gained 356 points, or 2.49 percent to trade at 14,637.      

At the forex market, the rupee appreciated seven paise to 72 rupees and 96 paise against the US dollar in afternoon deals. Yesterday, the Sensex and the Nifty skyrocketed around five percent welcoming Union Budget 2021-22.
