Sensex stands 100 pts in negative

The Sensex at the Bombay stock Exchange declined 118 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 17,055, in early trade, today, on sustained selling byfunds, amid weak regional bourses. Later, the Sensex recovered briefly, in volatile trade, before again losing ground, to stand 100 points, or 0.6 per cent in negative territory, at 17,073 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex had lost more than 360 points in the past two trading sessions.Key stock indices in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were down by between 0.3 percent and 0.9 percent, today, on fresh concerns about the Greek sovereign debt crisis. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 1.6 per cent lower, overnight.
