At the stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange posted a solid gain of 409 points, or 2.5 percent, to 16,850, today, amid fresh hopes of an early global economic recovery. The Nifty at the national Stock Exchange jumped 122 points, or 2.5 percent, to 5,004. Stock markets in Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong rose between 1 percent and 1.5 percent.The rupee strengthened 20 paise, to 46.29 against the dollar.Gold prices rose 105 rupees, to hit an all-time high of 16,980 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market. In London, gold rallied to a new record of more than 1,117 dollars an ounce.
