The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange spurted 387 points, or 1.2 percent, to a record closing high of 33,600, on Wednesday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange surged 105 points, to a new lifetime peak of 10,441. Stocks rallied after India's ranking in a World Bank report on Ease of Doing Business improved dramatically by 30 places, to the 100th position. Positive macro-economic data also helped drive the market.
