Sensex was trading in red in the afternoon trade on Tuesday. Sensex which rose by 103 points in early trade was trading 112 points down at 16,983 at 1400 hrs. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty which moved up 22.70 points in morning trade was 49.15 points down at 5056.
