Sensex sheds its early gains at noon trade

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex shed its early gains and was trading at 17, 142, down by over 46 points at 1400 hrs. In early trade, Sensex rose by 158 points on buying by funds driven by strong global cues.Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty down by over 18 points to 5,116 points. Eariler, Nifty surged to a year's high of 5,182 points in mid-session today on brisk buying by funds in fundamentally strong stocks on robust industrial growth dataThe Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 1.80 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei gained 1.50 per cent in the morning trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.67 per cent higher on Thursday.
