The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex lost over 61 points in the opening trade on Thursday on capital outflows by foreign funds. The Sensex was trading at 17,414 points, down by 36 points when reports last came in. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also declined by 11 points and was trading at 5213. Brokers said overnight weakness on the markets and subdued opening on the Asian bourses mainly triggered selling by foreign funds. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell by 1.47 per cent, while the US Dow Jones Industrial average ended 0.41 per cent down in yesterday's trade.
