Sensex sheds 56 points in early trade

Declining for the fourth day in a row, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange shed 56 points in early trade today on sustained selling by funds and retailers due to concerns over delay in economic reforms. The 30-share barometer had lost nearly 219 points in the previous three sessions.The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange declined by 14 points to 5,321.In Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng down by 0.06 per cent, while the Japan's Nikkei was up by 0.28 per cent in early trade today.The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.17 per cent lower in Tuesday's trade.
