The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange had gained 25 points, or 0.1 percent, to 20,632, after moving between negative and positive territory, in very volatile trade, a short while ago. Earlier, in morning trade, the Sensex had climbed 143 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 20,750, but later erased al those gains. The 30-share Sensex had rallied over 700 points in the previous five trading sessions. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan had climbed between 0.3 percent and 1.1 percent, today, on hopes of a deal to end the US government shutdown and raise its borrowing limit. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.4 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.
