The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex jumped by 217 points in opening trade today. The 30-share index rose 217 points, or 1.29 per cent, to 17,006 points. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 66.35 points, or 1.33 per cent, to 5,054.95 points. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was up 1.03 per cent higher, while the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei-225 rose 0.62 per cent. Chinese shares rose 1.06 per cent in early trade. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1.33 per cent to close at 10,081 points. The Nasdaq composite rose 0.68 per cent to 2,165 points.
