The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 78 points, to 17,061, in opening trade, this morning, on fresh buying by investors. After surrendering all its initial gains, in choppy trade, the Sensex moved up again, and stood 176 points, or 1 percent in the green, at 17,159, a short while ago. Stock markets in China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan were down by between 0.1 percent and 0.7 percent.
