The Sensex rose by over 73 points, or 0.45 per cent, in the opening trade today at 16,320 points on fresh capital inflows by foreign funds amid firming trends in global markets. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 21.55 points, or 0.44 per cent to 4,880 points. Marketmen said fresh buying by foreign funds ahead of the economic survey, to be released later today and firming trends on the global stock markets, mainly lifted the mood.
