Rebounding from its early losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood a modest 19 points, or 0.1 percent in the positive zone, at 17,149, in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The market rose after a strong opening of the European bourses. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had declined 89 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 17,041, within the first few minutes of trade, on profit-booking by investors, amid weakness in the regional markets.Key stock indices in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore were trading mixed, today, but were off their morning lows. Across on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had plummeted 4.6 per cent in overnight trade, on worries over the US economy, and on fears that France could become the next country to lose its top AAA credit rating.
