The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange dropped 205 points, or 1.3 per cent, to 16,156 in opening trade, this morning, amid a weak trend on the other Asian bourses, as global recession fears continued to haunt investors. Later, after falling more than 300 points at one stage, the Sensex recovered some lost ground, to stand 123 points, or 0.8 percent in negative territory, at 16,239, in afternon trade, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex had lost a whopping 704 points in yesterday's trade. Other Asian bourses continued to fall, on Friday, with key stock indices in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea plunging between 1 percent and 5.5 percent, as investors fretted about global economic growth. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had plunged 3.5 per cent, overnight.
