Sensex posts small gain at close; rupee ends stronger

Snapping a five-day losing streak, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended with a small gain of 36 points, or 0.2 percent, at 20,729, today. The Nifty advanced 12 points, to 6,175.Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore rose between 1 percent and 1.9 percent. The rupee closed 23 paise stronger, at 62.07 against the dollar. `Gold fell 160 rupees, to 30,000 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver dropped 1,050 rupees, to 44,300 rupees per kilo.And Brent crude oil futures stood above 107 dollars a barrel, while U.S. crude added 6 cents, at 93.73 dollars a barrel
