At the stock markets, retreating from a record high, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange had slumped 287 points, or 0.9 percent, to 31,788 a short while ago. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange had dropped 66 points, to 9,850. And at the forex market, the rupee had firmed up just one paise, to 64.34 against the dollar in afternoon deals.
