Stock markets fell across the globe. At the domestic stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange plunged 324 points, to close at 27,608. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange slumped 122 points, to 8,373. The Chinese stock market tumbled 3.4 percent, on growth concerns, while key bourses in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore dropped between 0.9 percent and 1.8 percent. European markets in the UK, Germany and France had lost between 0.5 percent and 1.9 percent. Back home, at the forex market, the rupee weakened 27 paise, to a new two-year low of 65.54 against the dollar. But rising for the eleventh straight day, gold surged 365 rupees, to 26,700 rupees per ten grams in Delhi.
