Sensex plummets by 200 pts in noon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange lost 194 points, or 1.1 per cent, to 17,168, in early trade, this morning, with sentiment hit by some poor corporate results.Later, the Sensex remained weak, and stood 200 points or 1.2 percent in negative territory, at 17,162 in afternoon deals, a short while ago.Other Asian markets in Japan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan rose between 0.1 percent and 2.8 percent, today, after debt-laden, Italy was able to fund itself at a bond auction.Wall Street's Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained 0.9 percent, overnight, on positive economic data, and encouraging news from the euro zone.
