Sensex opens over 119 points higher

The Sensex opened over 119 points higher today. The 30-share barometer, which has gained over 367 points in the past two sessions, added 119 points, or 0.65 per cent, to 18,325 in the first few minutes of trade. In a similar fashion, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index moved up by 38.95 points, or 0.71 per cent, to 5,519. Asian market commenced higher following a firm closing in the US market last night. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up by 0.59 per cent and Japan's Nikkei by 0.22 per cent in early trade today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.56 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.
