The Sensex and the Nifty fell during the week ended on Friday. The key domestic stocks declined more than one and half a percent, during the week, amid negative cues from the global markets.
Resurgence of Coronavirus cases in various parts of the country also impacted investor sentiment.
The Sensex at Bombay Stocks Exchange closed just above 49,000 mark while the Nifty at National Stock Exchange settled few points above 14,500 level.
During the week, the Sensex plunged 850 points, or 1.7 percent to settle at 49,009 and the Nifty tumbled 237 points or 1.61 percent to finish at 14,507.
The Mid-Cap and Small-Cap indexes of BSE also fell but performed better than the Sensex.
The Mid-Cap index ended 0.37 percent down and the Small-Cap index slipped 0.94 percent.
