The Sensex and the Nifty on Wednesday logged modest losses. Both stock indices declined for the third session in row amid mixed cues from global share markets. The BSE Sensex closed below the 58,350 mark while the NSE Nifty ended below 17,500 level.

The Sensex plunged 237 points, or 0.41 per cent to finish at 58,339. The Nifty also tumbled 55 points, or 0.31 per cent to settle at 17,476.
