The Sensex and the Nifty today closed at record high. Both indices rose more than half a percent. Both stocks gained amid positive cues from global share markets. Extending gains for the seventh session in a row, the BSE Sensex finished above the 63,000 mark while the Nifty settled above the 18,750 level. The Sensex rose 418 points, or 0.67 percent, to finish at 63,100. The Nifty also appreciated 140 points, or 0.75 percent, to end at 18,758.

In the broader market at the BSE, Mid-Cap index gained 1.06 percent and the Small-Cap index ended 0.61 percent up. In the Sensex pack, 21 companies posted gains while nine logged losses. In sectoral indicies at BSE, 19 sectors logged gains. In sectoral indicies at BSE, all sectors logged gains. The overall breadth of the BSE trade was positive as shares of 1,993 companies gained while 1,486 fell. Shares of 123 companies remained unchanged.
