Sensex loses over 90 points in afternoon trade

Surrendering all its initial gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 95 points, or 0.5 percent in negative territory, at 19,074 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had opened with a gain of 40 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 19,210, on sustained buying by funds and retail investors. The Sensex has rallied nearly 440 points in the past two trading sessions.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan had lost between 0.2 percent and 2.1 percent, today, after a preliminary report showed disappointing Chinese manufacturing data. But the US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.1 per cent higher yesterday.
