The stock markets have been weak so far today. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange opened in the red, and after extending its losses, had declined 158 points, to 24,393 a short while ago. Similarly, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange had dropped 43 points, to 7,418 a short while ago. Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore were trading mixed.And at the forex market, the rupee largely recovered from initial losses, and had weakened just one paise, to 67.39 against the dollar in late morning deals.
