Sensex loses nearly 150 points in noon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 41 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 16,178 in opening trade, today, on sustained selling by foreign funds, amid weak Asian bourses.Later, the Sensex lost some more ground, and stood 145 points, or 0.9 percent in the red, at 16,073 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex had lost over 220 points in the previous two trading sessions.Other Asian markets in Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea were down by between 0.2 percent and 1.7 percent, today, after data indicated that growth momentum is slowing in the Chinese economy. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.2 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
