The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 40 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 17,390 in early trade, today, as funds and retail investors booked some profits after four days of gains. Later, the Sensex remained subdued, and stood 31 points, or 0.2 percent in negative territory, at 17,399, in range-bound, afternoon trade, a short while ago.
