Erasing all its intital gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 242 points, or 1.3 percent in negative territory, at 19,051 in afternoon trade, a short while ago, even as the Reserve Bank unveiled its mid-quarter monetary policy review. At one stage, the Sensex had slipped below the 19,000 level. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had opened with a gain of 85 points, or 0.4 per cent, at 19,379 on fresh buying by investors, amid firm Asian bourses. The Sensex had lost 277 points in the previous two trading sessions.Stock markets in Japan China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia had gained between 0.3 percent and 1.9 percent, today. But the US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.4 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
