Sensex loses 162 points in early trade

The BSE benchmark Sensex lost 162 points in opening trade today on continued selling by foreign funds amid weak trend on Asian bourses. The 30-share index, which lost 111 points in the previous session on Wednesday, moved down further by 162 points to 17,324 in the first five minutes of trading.The markets were closed on Thursday and Friday on account of 'Mahavir Jayanti' and 'Good Friday', respectively.Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 50 points to 5,273.Meanwhile, the Japan's Nikkei fell by 0.97 per cent in early trade.
