The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 36 points, to 18,273, in opening trade, on Thursday morning, as investors sold stocks ahead of tomorrow's credit policy review by the Reserve Bank. Later, the Sensex lost some more ground, and stood as much as 124 points, or 0.7 percent in negative territory, at 18,184, in afternoon deals, a short while ago. Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea were trading mixed, today. Over in the US, Wall Street's Dow Jones Industrial Average had jumped 1 per cent, overnight.
