The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 45 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 18,517 in early trade, today, on fresh buying by funds and retail investors.Later, the Sensex gained some more ground, and stood 67 points, or 0.4 percent in the green, at 18,539 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex had lost over 430 points in the past five trading days.Stock markets in Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan were trading mixed, today. But the US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.2 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
