Sensex in positive territory; trading up 64pts at 17,167

The Sensex lost early gains and was trading 64 points in the positive territory at 17,167 in late morning deals, when reports last came in. Snapping its four-session losing streak, the Sensex had recovered by over 130 points in early trade. The rise was attributed to fresh buying by funds and retail investors, amid a firming trend at Asian markets. In a similar fashion, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange was trading 15 points in the green at 5,211. In Asian region, Japan's Nikkei was up 0.84 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 1.39 per cent in early trade today.
