Maintaining its intital gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 83 points, or 0.4 percent in the positive zone, at 19,462 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, the Sensex had climbed 59 points, or 0.3 percent, to 19,439, on fresh buying by funds and retail investors. The 30-share Sensex had lost over 500 points in the previous two trading sessions. Stock indices in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore had added between 0.1 percent and 1.4 percent, today. But Wall Street's Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.8 percent lower in yesterday's trade.
