Building on early gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood a good 205 points, or 1.1 percent in positive territory, at 18,745 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, the Sensex had opened with a gain of 73 points, or 0.4 per cent, at 18,614, on fresh buying at current lower levels.Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were trading mixed, today. China's stock index was down just 0.2 percent, after tumbling almost 6 percent earlier in the session. Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had closed 0.9 percent lower in yesterday's trade.
