Sensex gains over 180 points in afternoon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange which had added 76 points in the opening trade this morning later made further gains to stand 189 points, or one per cent in the green, at 20,215, a short while ago. The domestic market rose on the back of fresh buying by investors, ahead of the monthly expiry in the derivatives segment and firm regional markets.Other Asian bourses in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and South Korea rose between 0.5 per cent and one per cent today as increased oil prices boosted energy stock. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.2 per cent overnight.
