Sensex gains over 180 points in afternoon trade

Continuing to rally, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 120 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 18,612, in early trade on Wednesday, on sustained buying by foreign funds, amid firm Asian Bourses. Later the Sensex climbed even further, and stood a good 184 points, or 1 percent in positive territory, at 18,676 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The Sensex has already rallied more than 940 points in the past four trading sessions. Other Asian markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were up by between 0.3 percent and 1.5 percent, ahead of a vote in the Greek parliament that investors hope will approve an austerity program demanded by international lenders.
