Recovering from early losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained a good 133 points, or 0.8 percent, to 17,684, in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had fallen 41 points, to 17,509, on continued selling by investors, on the back of weak global markets. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan were down by between 0.3 percent and 0.6 percent, today, after the US central bank lowered its growth forecast for the world's biggest economy, fueling global growth concerns. Wall Street's Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.7 per cent lower, overnight.
