The Sensex at the Bombay stock Exchange rose 89 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 19,650 in early trade, today, on sustained buying by funds and retail investors. Later, the Sensex gained further ground, and stood a good 131 points, or 0.7 percent in positive territory, at 19,692 in afternoon trade, a short while ago.Key stock indices in Indonesia, Singapore and South Korea had gained between 0.7 percent and 1.4 percent, today, while Japan's stock market was down 1.4 percent. Across on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.3 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.

Sensex gains over 130 points in afternoon trade
