Extending its initial gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange had rallied 137 points, or 0.7 percent, to 21,212 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, the Sensex had climbed 97 points, or 0.5 percent, to 21,172 on continued buying by funds and retail investors, amid rising regional bourses. Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore had gained between 0.1 percent and 1.4 percent, today. Wall Street's Dow Jones Industrial Average had jumped 0.8 percent, to close at a new record high, overnight, after a strong US jobs report.

Sensex gains over 130 points in afternoon trade
