Sensex gains over 100 points in early trade:Rupee rises 15p against dollar

The BSE benchmark Sensex gained 103 points in early trade today. The 30-share barometer recovered by 103 points, or 0.52 per cent, to 19,769 with all sectoral indices rising.On the similar lines, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty gained 30 points, or 0.50 per cent,to 6,001.Brokers said fresh buying by funds amid a firming Asian trend after a overnight rally on Wall Street mainly influencedthe sentiment.In Asia, Japan's Nikkei was up by 0.94 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.91 per cent.The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.46 per cent higher yesterday.The rupee today gained 15 paise to 54.60 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on the back of increased capital inflows.Forex dealers said sustained dollar selling by exporters and banks and a higher opening in the equity market alsoboosted the rupee sentiment.However, dollar's gains against the euro and yen overseas,capped the gains to some extent.The local currency had ended 23 paise higher at 54.75 against the dollar yesterday.
